Whole-home HVAC installation, planned as one system

When the furnace and the air conditioner are both near the end, or you're finishing an addition or a big renovation, it usually makes sense to plan heating, cooling, ductwork and controls together instead of one piece at a time.

We start with the house: how you use it, which rooms are never comfortable, what equipment you have now and the shape the ducts are in. The new HVAC system is chosen to fit all of that, not just to match what was there before.

Whole-home HVAC installation, planned as one system

Which HVAC system fits your home?

01 · Furnace and central air

A furnace paired with central air shares one air handler and one set of ducts. It's a common choice for homes that already have ductwork in good shape, and both pieces can be sized and controlled together.

02 · Heat pump systems

A ducted heat pump, ductless mini splits or a mix of both can handle heating and cooling with the same equipment. Our heat pump installation page explains how those layouts work.

What a complete HVAC system installation includes

Your proposal covers each piece of equipment, duct changes, refrigerant lines, drainage, thermostats and controls, and how the old system comes out.

Electrical work, permits and any repairs to the house are listed too, along with who handles them, so you can compare quotes on the same terms and know what installation day looks like.

Only replacing one piece?

If you only need new cooling or new heating, start with our AC installation, furnace installation or heat pump installation pages. Something just stopped working? See heating repair or AC repair.

Signs it may be time to replace the whole HVAC system

Replacing everything at once isn't always necessary. These are the situations where it usually pays to look at the full system.

  1. 01

Heating and cooling are both aging

When the furnace and the air conditioner were installed around the same time, they tend to wear out together. Replacing both at once lets them be matched and sized as a pair.

  2. 02

    Ducts that never worked well

Rooms that are always too hot or too cold often point to the ductwork. A full system replacement is the best time to fix duct sizing, returns and airflow.

  3. 03

    Additions and renovations

Finishing a basement, adding a room or opening up a floor plan changes how much heating and cooling the house needs, and where it has to go.

  4. 04

    Changing how you heat

Moving from a furnace to a heat pump, or adding central air to a home that never had it, is easier to plan as one project than as separate jobs.

HVAC system installation questions

Do I have to replace heating and cooling at the same time?

+

No. If one system still has plenty of life left, we can plan around it. We'll talk through what makes sense for your equipment and budget.

Can you reuse my existing ductwork?

+

Sometimes. It depends on its condition, size and layout. We check the ducts during the estimate before recommending what to keep and what to change.

How much does a new HVAC system cost?

+

It depends on the equipment, the size of the house, duct changes, electrical work and access. That's why you get a written estimate for your home instead of a ballpark.

Is the estimate free?

+

Yes. The in-home estimate for HVAC system installation is free. Repair and diagnostic visits are a separate service.
